Jamshedpur: District statistics department Tuesday launched a public awareness campaign with the view to spread mass awareness on birth and death registration. Deputy Development Commissioner B Maheshwari and Additional Deputy Commissioner Subodh Kumar jointly flagged off a publicity vehicle to mark commencement of the awareness campaign.
Statistics Department officials said obtaining birth and death registration certificate is must within 21 days as per Birth and Death Registration Act 1969. In rural areas, village Panchayat Secretary is the Registrar while in urban areas Special Officer of the municipal body concerned is the Registrar for this purpose, officials said.
According to officials, two publicity vehicles are doing the rounds of the district to spread awareness among the masses. People will be asked to compulsorily get births and deaths registered with the authority concerned, they said.
