Jamshedpur: Thieves made an abortive attempt to steal the statue of geologist late PN Bose from his monument in Northern Town area under Bistupur police station late yesterday night.
They tried to take away the statue probably due to the use of metal in it, but could not succeed in their attempt. They also damaged the grill around the monument.
Police reached the scene and started an investigation into the incident.
They said local gangs could be involved in the incident. Repair work started in the morning to undo the damage caused by thieves.
