ATM booth loot bid foiled, two arrested with arms

Chandil : Joint teams of Central Reserve Police Force and Seraikela-Kharsawan district police foiled an attempt to loot cash from an ATM booth at Chandil Dam Road late yesterday night and arrested two criminals.

Cops seized two country-made pistols, two bullets and a knife from the possession of the accused persons, identified as Umesh Tudu and Asit Tudu, both residents of Gagiburu village under Bodam police station area.

�The culprits had planned to loot cash from the ATM booth of State Bank of India situated at Chandil Dam Road around 8.30 pm. They had planned to loot cash from the ATM. They also carried arms with them. The CRPF assistant commandant got a tip-off around 7.30 pm about their plan and set up a team to arrest them,� said Madan Mohan Lal, superintendent of police (SP), Seraikela-Kharsawan.

The police team was led by assistant commandant of CRPF Anup Kumar Srivastava and officer in-charge of Chandil police station Rajiv Kumar Singh.

The accused persons reportedly confessed to their crime during interrogation. They were earlier jailed in dacoity and loot cases by Patamada police. They said one Raju Ansari, a resident of Chowra, was their accomplice.
