Chandil: The agitation of student leaders of Singhbhum College, Chandil, who sat on fast unto death on third consecutive day on Thursday, was called off today itself following an assurance from the Vice Chancellor of Kolhan University RPP Singh.
The VC, who visited the agitation venue on the college premises in the morning, met the agitating student leaders and appealed to them to call off the strike.
He said appropriate action will be taken by the university to ensure that the post graduate studies of various streams will continue as usual in the the four colleges of the Kolhan University where they had been announced to be closed indefinitely recently.
He said the studies will continue only in those subjects for which the colleges had been given recognition. He said the college had not yet got recognition for B.SC honours studies.
He said a proposal will be put up during the Syndicate meeting of Kolhan University on 2nd July and appropriate action will be taken accordingly.
The proposal will be sent to the Human Resource Development Ministry for approval. Once the approval is given, the course will be started in a full-fledged manner, the VC said.
