Jamshedpur, Feb 5: A crime branch team from Guwahati in Assam on Friday arrested a cyber criminal Kamesh Pal from his house in Kailashnagar under Govindpur thana area in Jamshedpur.
The accused was working in private firm Steel Strip Wheels Company for the last one month as a contract worker and is a native of Garhwa district of Jharkhand. Guwahati police are questioning him over fraudulent transaction of Rs 3 crore from State Bank of India account in Kandi branch of Assam.
The account was transferred to SBI Guwahati branch through SBI Uno App from where the fraudulent transaction was carried out.
The accused was being searched by Assam police for a long time and during interrogation the youth expressed ignorance about his account being transferred to Guwahati while the police claim that without his consent it is impossible to transfer the account to Guwahati. The account is linked with the same mobile number which is being used by the accused. The cybercriminals were doing the transaction in his account.
Officially, the Guwahati crime branch officials did not divulge anything about the case to the media and took the accused into Jamshedpur Court and took him on transit remand to Guwahati.
The Guwahati police had nabbed a gang of cybercriminals and during their interrogation they had revealed the name of the accused Kamesh Pal and the police managed to trace Kamesh Pal using mobile locations and call details.
