Jamshedpur: Unidentified assailants opened fire at the residence of Rajkumar Das, vice president of BJP Kadma unit, Sunday evening. No one was hurt in the incident, police said.

Police said the incident took place when Das was talking to party workers in his house situated at Mohan Path, Bhatia Busti. The BJP leader expressed suspicion that the firing could be the result of a land dispute, police said.

Two youths came on a bike and asked me to vacate the house. Before I could understand anything, they opened fire on the house. They had hidden their faces with handkerchief. After firing two rounds, they ran through the alley, said Das.
Das said his brother Jai Kumar Das had spotted the assailants in the market and tried to stop them. One of the assailants however opened fire on his brother, he told police.

DSP Kailash Karmali and the officer in-charge of Kadma PS Rajdev Singh reached the crime scene and recovered two pellets and a bullet. Many party workers gathered at the scene on coming to know about the incident.

Das said he had a dispute with one Ajit Chatterjee of Uliyan, Kadma. The dispute is pending with the DC office, he said, adding that Chatterjee claimed ownership of his house while Das denied it.
