Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship kicks off in Jamshedpur

Thailand climbers shine on day 1

Jamshedpur, Dec 8: Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship 2023 kicked-off today at JRD Tata Sports Complex amid young participants showing exceptional skills and prowess during the event on the first day.

 

Rajiv Mangal, Vice President, Safety, Health & Sustainability, Tata Steel, graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Benoit Beylier, CEO of Enterprise Climbing who graced the event as the Guest of Honour. Keerthi Pais, Honorary Secretary of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and Rasip Inn, General Secretary of International Federation of Sport Climbing (iFSC) Asia, were also present during the inauguration.

The event being organised by the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF), in association with Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and iFSC Asia, today witnessed participation from 11 Asian countries.

A total of 91 participants hailing from 11 diverse Asian counties showcased their prowess in the Youth C (Ages 10 & 11) and Youth D (Ages 12 & 13) categories. The event promises to be a melting pot of talent and determination, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition.

The opening ceremony was a grand affair, featuring a captivating indigenous dance performance known as Firkal Dance. This traditional dance form, deeply rooted in the cultural tapestry of the region, added a vibrant and cultural touch to the event, leaving the audience enthralled. Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Band of Prem Jyoti Prangan welcomed participating countries with spirited musical performances. Dignitaries were honored with traditional shawls and Sohrai Art case, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The young participants today showcased their prowess in the Youth C (Ages 10 & 11) and Youth D (Ages 12 & 13) categories.

The opening day featured the exciting discipline of Speed Climbing and participants displayed exceptional skill and determination. The winners in various categories are as follows: In Youth D Female-Leyna Claire Singh of Singapore was first, Evelina Stasselovich    of Kazakhstan was second while Dhruvi Ganesh Padwal of India bagged third prize.

Youth D Male- First prize was bagged by Ivan Stetsenko of Kazakhstan followed by Yerkhan Aidarkhanuly of Kazakhstan and Tinn Theerajaruwat of Thailand. In Youth C Male- Pao Quichowattha of Thailand was first, Denver Chua Jit An of Singapore and Shoolin Rakesh Neve of India bagged second and third prize.

InYouth C Female- 1st prize was won by Ratchamon Thongbai of Thailand, 2ndprize was bagged by Kanyanat Arsakit      of Thailand followed by Amieyra Khoslla of India.
