Jamshedpur, May 11: Storm and rain brought the much needed respite from heat on Wednesday.

However, the citizens faced a good deal of inconvenience as normal life was affected due to waterlogging, falling of trees, and few other rain-related incidents across the city.

The rain, as predicted by the weather department, was accompanied by storm which started in the afternoon and continued for over an hour.

Cloudy sky was seen early morning with harassing levels of humidity. The storm resulted in falling of trees at Sakchi and few other places in the city. Traffic was disrupted as branches of trees fell on the main roads at some places.

Waterlogging, however, turned out to be a major source of inconvenience today. From marketplaces to residential societies, rainwater accumulation caused the traffic flow to move at snail’s pace.

In Burmamines, rainwater entered into over eight households of Tatanagar Foundry Basti. Household articles were damaged in some houses.

In Mango too, waterlogging was seen at various places. Rainwater entered several shops in dozens of shops besides Mango Municipal Corporation office.

Some residents said today’s rain had exposed the city’s poor preparedness in dealing with waterlogging problem.

Sewerage sysem should be kept in robust condition to stop the rain related problems, they said.
