Jamshedpur, Nov 2: Singhbhum Asangathit Kamgar Union has decided to launch a massive agitation for unorganized labourers. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the outfit members held on Friday at the office of the union.
The meeting was presided over by Vijay Khan, president of the union. He said the unorganized sector was witnessing worst times as the workers were being deprived of their rights by companies.
He said the outfit members will be launching a widescale agitation to ensure that the rights of the workers are not encroached upon by any private company or agency.
�We will not sit back to see the workers getting exploited by private companies. The families of workers are dependent on the meager income of the family head.
In such situation, it is imperative for us to do something for the welfare of the workers and their families,� said Khan. Khan said the issues related to the welfare of unorganized contract workers were discussed at length during the meeting.
The workers employed in hotels, restaurants, textile shops, private schools and other private enterprise are not given allowances or salaries as per the rules of the government, he said.
He further said that the organization will working for the welfare of unorganized workers as no other organization seemed to be taking interest in solving the problems of such people.
Union leader Rakeshwar Pandey, Rajesh Shukla, Ajay Singh, Ravindra Jha and Ajay Singh were also present during the meeting.
