Jamshedpur: Karim City College, in collaboration with the KORU Foundation, hosted its “Earth Day” program with a ceremony marked by high enthusiasm and a focus on social responsibility. Organized to foster environmental protection and awareness, the event emphasized the critical role of the younger generation in securing a sustainable future.
Youth Participation: A Necessity for the Future
The program featured Arnav Mishra (IAS), Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Dhalbhum, as the chief guest. During his keynote address, Mishra highlighted that environmental conservation has become the most pressing necessity of the current era. He delivered a strong message to the student body, asserting that active participation from the youth is essential to safeguard the coming years. Mishra further urged students to commit to large-scale tree plantation drives and maintain a constant awareness of cleanliness.
Fostering Social Responsibility
Dr. Mohammad Riaz, Principal of Karim City College, reinforced the event’s educational value, stating that such initiatives are vital for developing social responsibility and environmental sensitivity among students. The ceremony also saw participation from several key organizers and leaders, including:

- Deepak Kumar Sony: Program Manager.
- Sadaf Khanam: Program Coordinator.
Dr. Ale Ali, the NSS Program Officer, remarked that positive societal changes only stem from a spirit of service and collective effort. Additionally, NSS Coordinator Syed Sajid Pervez commended the volunteers for their dedication and encouraged them to continue their active involvement in environmental causes.
Innovation Through Recycling
A highlight of the program was the active participation of various local schools, where students demonstrated creative solutions for sustainability. Participants showcased projects that transformed waste materials into functional everyday items, including home decor and innovative water filtration systems designed to purify and cool water.
