Jamshedpur: The 23rd Asian Masters Athletic Championship was held from November 5 to 9, 2025, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai under the joint aegis of the Masters Athletic Federation of India and the Asian Masters Athletic Federation. Representing India, Jharkhand’s Master Athletic Association Secretary and international athlete S.K. Tomar delivered an outstanding performance in the 50+ age category. He won two medals—a gold in hammer throw and a silver in discus throw, competing against strong contenders.
Recognizing his achievement, former Union Minister Arjun Munda invited Tomar to his residential office on Wednesday and congratulated him personally. Munda honored Tomar with an angavastram and extended best wishes for his future competitions.
Four other athletes from Jharkhand also brought glory to the state with a total of nine medals.
- B.N. Rao, 85+ age group: 1 gold, 1 silver
- M.L. Chatterjee, 75+ age group: bronze in race walk
- Ashok Biswal, 70+ age group: 2 silver and 1 bronze in 200m, 400m, and 300m events
- Pawan Mishra, 45+ age group: bronze in triple jump
Master Athletic Association of Jharkhand confirmed that the state contingent won 2 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze, marking a proud moment for Jharkhand in international athletics.
