Anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa, 7-Kg IED recovered

Jamshedpur: In a major breakthrough, security forces successfully thwarted potential subversive activities by the banned Maoists by recovering an IED weighing 7-Kg under Goilkera police station of West Singhbhum. A joint operation team comprising Chaibasa Police, CoBra 209 Bn, 203 Bn, 205 BN, Jharkhand Jaguar, and CRPF 60, 197, 157, 174, 193, 134, executed a meticulously planned mission in Kolhan.

During the ongoing joint campaign on Thursday, in the forest and hilly areas around the village of Meralgada under the Goilkera police station, security forces successfully detected and recovered a 7 -kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED). This IED, previously planted by Naxalites, was intended to target security forces in the region. The timely detection and disposal of the explosive device underscore the effectiveness of the security measures in place.

The joint team, with the assistance of a specialized squad, ensured the safety of the area and neutralized the threat posed by the planted explosive. The anti-Naxal operations are ongoing, emphasizing the commitment of security forces to maintain peace and stability in the region.

“ The successful outcome of this operation serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts of various security units and reinforces their dedication to eradicating the menace of Naxalism in Jharkhand. The security forces continue to remain vigilant, and further updates on the anti-Naxal operations will be provided as the situation develops,” said an official.

The top leaders of the ultra outfit, including Misir Besra, Anmel, Maechhu, Chaman, Kande, Ajay Mahta, Sagden Angriya, and Ashwin, along with their squad members, were targeted during the operation. The Naxalites had been actively involved in subversive activities, prompting the formation of a joint team consisting of 26 teams from various security units.

The operation, which commenced on an unspecified date, saw a relentless pursuit of the Naxalite elements. A joint campaign, initiated on October 10, 2023, covered villages under Goilkera police station, including Kuida, Chhota Kuida, Maradiri, Meralgada, Hathiburu, Tilayabeda Boypaissang, Katamba, Bayhatu, and border areas of Lemsadih. Villages under Tonto police station, namely Husipi, Rajabasa, Tumbahaka, Regada, and border areas of Patatorab, Ga Gaburu, Luiya, were also brought under the purview of the campaign.
