Ranchi: State BJP continued to face unprecedented protests from its various districts over its alliance with the AJSU Party. A large number of party workers staged dharna at the party office on the fifth consecutive day on Saturday demanding cancellation of the alliance.
Party insiders said one of the main reasons behind the ongoing protests was the neglect of dedicated party workers by the party leadership. They said the party workers who have long been serving the organization were ignored which giving ticket for the upcoming Assembly polls.
“It is unfortunate that dedicated party workers have been put aside by senior party leaders. Party gave ticket to people who are not grassroot workers. Influence of money and contacts helped many people get ticket despite their poor image in the party and their constituency. This will result in huge damage to the party,” said one of the protesting leaders.
Party sources said senior leaders were trying hard to pacify the protesting party workers without success. Private security personnel have been deployed at the party headquarters. The security guards are also doubling up as traffic controllers on the main road in front of the BJP office.
Ironically, despite the tough situation being faced by the party, party leaders have taken no effective steps so far to resolve the crisis.
Contacted state BJP in-charge Trivendra Singh Rawat said, “It is an ordinary internal dispute of the party. We are trying to make the protesting party members see reason and quit agitation. Before long, everything will be settled amicably.”
