Jamshedpur, April 13: Jharkhand Pradesh Gaushala Sangh general secretary and former member of Animal Welfare Board Anil Modi to appealed to the state government to sanction funds from the Gau Seva Ayog as the condition of the cows in the 27 Gaushalas in the state was precarious due to sparse availability of cattle fodder. Modi stated that many cows, since the banning of cow slaughter vide the Act of 2011, all cows being taken on transit from the state were sent to the various Gaushalas for care.
The Jharkhand Pradesh Gaushala Sangh general secretary demanded in the letter either the state government sanctioned the amount from the Gau Seva Ayog funds @ Rs 50 per cow per day or reimburse the pending payments in order to ensure fodder for the cattle in the 27 Gaushalas in the state.
Modi said that the Gaushalas run on contributions from social organizations and individual donations but due to the lockdown the flow of funds had been affected. He stated that urban Gaushalas somehow managed to provide fodder and physical care to the cattle in the Gaushalas but the ones in rural areas were finding it tough to procure cattle feed.
The Sangh general secretary mentioned that while the government was catering to the needs of a suffering human mass due to the dark shadow cast by the coronavirus threat, it should also provide care for the mute animals who too were suffering from hunger pangs.
