Alleged embezzlement of Rs 60 Lakh in HEC Salary Scandal

Ranchi: A concerning case of embezzlement amounting to Rs 60 lakh, carried out under the guise of employee salaries, has been unearthed within HEC (Heavy Engineering Corporation), reportedly in collusion with the Finance Department. In light of this revelation, the HEC Bachao Mazdoor Jan Sangharsh Morcha convened a meeting with HEC management on Thursday, vehemently urging stringent action against those implicated in this fraudulent scheme.

The malpractice is believed to have persisted in HEC for an estimated eight to ten years before coming to public attention. Sanjay Singh, serving as the Deputy Chief of the Finance Department at the HMBP Plant of HEC, has emerged as a significant figure in this scheme. In addition to the monthly salary, an extra amount of Rs 59,980 was consistently transferred to Kamlesh Kumar Singh, who holds an executive position. Notably, Kamlesh Kumar Singh’s regular basic salary amounts to Rs 16,400, with additional components like dearness allowance, HRA, and other allowances, totaling Rs 54,418. However, he has allegedly received an additional Rs 59,980 per month in the form of arrears.

The concerns regarding this financial irregularity reached the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), with several HEC employees lodging complaints. Subsequently, the PMO has referred the matter to the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) for a thorough investigation. The CVC, in turn, has directed the HEC Vigilance Department to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter. With the matter now under the scrutiny of the PMO and the CVC, it is anticipated that further revelations may emerge as the investigation progresses.
