Jamshedpur, July 18: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) would soon press into service a mobile sprinkler machine with the aim to reduce the presence of particulate matter in the city air.

According to JNAC sources, the sprinkler would spray water to counter air pollution in various areas based on the level of pollution. In order to keep a watch on the pollution levels, air quality systems equipped with sensors would be installed at 20 places across the city. Through a control room at JNAC, the officials concerned would be able to know the level of pollution at these places and would accordingly send the sprinkler machine to control the level, sources said.

Sources further added that three large LED screens would give information to the citizens about the air pollution level in the city at prominent places. The entire system is expected to be in place in next six months, sources said.

JNAC has conducted a survey of the city to earmark places where the air quality system would be installed. Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav is expected to hold a meeting to finalize the list of places very soon, sources said.
