Ranchi, Sept. 26: Issuing a directive to the state agriculture department, Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma today said that tenders to install seed processing machines should be floated early so that seeds produced from seed village could be processed there and farmers do not have to face problems in processing their seeds.
Verma also said that meetings should be held at departmental level for the collection of seeds and fixation of stores. Work should be done regarding arrangement of stores having adequate quantity, she said.
The CS said that youths should be connected with agriculture and work plan should be made how to utilize their services. Agencies related with small soil research laboratory should be contacted and necessary preparations should be done. She said that they should inspect the works personally and speed up Prime Minister Irrigation Scheme in Deoghar, Sahibganj, Pakur and Godda.
The Chief Secretary said that the agriculture department Secretary should monitor that the produced seeds are purchased by State Agro-Seed Corporation so that the farmers do not face any loss.
She said that all districts have been given the target to convert at least 500 villages into seed villages. All districts should be coordinated and work should be ensured.
