Jamshedpur, Dec 21: The 65th, 66th & 67th Championship Dog Show was officially inaugurated by T.V.Narendran, CEO & MD Tata Steel on Saturday morning.
Though the event opened with the Obedience test on Friday, Saturday witnessed All Breeds Show at the Hockey Ground, JRD Tata Sports Complex. The All Breed Show will continue on the final day of the show on December 23.
Speaking on the occasion, Narendran said, �I have been a dog lover since last 15 years and know that the unconditional love you get from them can only be experienced.�
He expressed satisfaction over the fact that this Event at Jamshedpur has grown in stature over the years.
Earlier in his Welcome remarks, A.M.Misra, President, Jamshedpur Kennel Club, said �Often the dog becomes the most important member in the family and binds all age groups.�
He expressed satisfaction over the infrastructure set up for the Event. According to him, the weekend offered a complete package for an outing for the whole family which could also have a picnic in the adjacent Jubilee Park.
The audience was greeted to a fantastic display of training and obedience by the dogs of the Tata Steel and Tata Motors Kennel. It may be noted that the Tata Steel Kennel received the first and second prizes at the Obedience Championship held yesterday.
The concerned personnel who had trained the dogs expressed satisfaction with the dedication of the staff of the Tata Steel Kennel Club.
This year as per the new Kennel Club of India (KCI) format, 10 groups competed in 3 rings, namely the 65th, 66th & 67th rings for Best in Class, Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Breed, Best Puppy etc.
Afgan Hound from Bangalore of Nagraj Shetty ruled the roost at Jamshedpur Dog Show winning several awards on Saturday.
The Best in Show was awarded to Afgan Hound Dog of owner KS Nagraj Setty. The second best in show was Golden Retriever Dog of Deb Kumar Sur. Certificate for third best in show was bagged by Beagle Dog of Palash Kumar Ghosh.
The award for ‘Best in Show Breed in India’ was awarded to Dog Afgan Hound of owner KS Nagraj Shetty.
The ‘Reserved Best in Show Breed in India’ was won by Beagle Dog of Palash Kumar Ghosh.
Doberman of Somnath Ghosh was awarded the ‘Best of Puppy in Show’.
The ‘Reserved Best of Puppy in Show’ was won by dog Pug of Rahul Deb Majumder. The award for ‘Best Indian Breed’ was bagged by dog Pashmi of Prasad Mayekar.
Michael Papadatos (Greece), Torchai Chantrakum (Thailand), Jira Sattapunkeeree (Thailand ) and Woong Jong Lee (Korea) judged all breed show.
Being a Saturday, audience in large number was present before the show began. They witnessed superb performances put up by the dogs.
The main attractions for this year�s show are Japanese Breed-Akita, Afghan Hound, Siberian Husky, Fox Terrier (Wire), Chihuahua (long and short coat), American Cokker Spaniel, Whippet apart from the normal popular breeds like Pugs, Poms, Spitz, German Shephard ( Alsatian & Melanoise), Labrador, Golden Retriever, Daschund, English & Bull Mastiff, Great Dane, Doberman, Boxer, Beagle etc�. The Leading Dog in the Country, an Afghan Hound from Bangalore of Nagraj Shetty won laurels at the Jamshedpur Show.
The final day prize distribution would be on 23rd December.
