Advanced beneficiation technologies key to unlocking mineral wealth: Manoj Kumar in NML Jamshedpur

EMBT-2025 concludes, winners of technical sessions, poster competition felicitated

Jamshedpur, July 25: “With the Ministry of Mines identifying 24 critical and strategic minerals, the need for advanced beneficiation techniques is more urgent than ever,” said Manoj Kumar, Director (Geology), Department of Mines & Geology, Jharkhand, while addressing the valedictory function of the national seminar Emerging Trends in Mineral Beneficiation Technologies (EMBT-2025). The three-day event concluded on Thursday at the CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) Auditorium.

Organised by CSIR-NML, the seminar brought together over 150 delegates from 22 reputed organizations and institutions. A total of 66 technical papers were presented across various sessions. Key sponsors included Tata Steel, Coal India, JSW Steel, SAIL, Hindustan Copper, Saint-Gobain, Eriez India, Boldata, and others.

Earlier, Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML, welcomed all dignitaries, delegates, and speakers while congratulating participants and winners. He also highlighted the Mineral Processing Division’s expertise and state-of-the-art research infrastructure.

The seminar saw keynote and plenary lectures, along with a cultural programme that witnessed enthusiastic participation from EMBT delegates.

The valedictory session was chaired by Dr. D.K. Mishra, Chairman, EMBT-2025, who extended a vote of thanks, appreciating the organisers, sponsors, and attendees for their contributions. He noted that CSIR-NML’s Mineral Processing Division had earlier hosted major conferences during both the Diamond and Platinum Jubilee years.

Dr. R.K. Rath, Convenor, EMBT-2025, led the feedback session, during which participants and sponsors offered valuable suggestions for future events.

Winners across technical sessions and the poster competition were also felicitated. Some of the awardees included Vignesh V (JSW Steel), Akshay Kumar (CSIR-NML), P. Rajodiya (AM/NS India), and Neeraj Kumar (Tata Steel). The top poster award went to B.C. Venkateshwarlu (Dalmia Cement Ltd.), with P. Barik and Apurva Aditi from CSIR-NML as runners-up.
