Jamshedpur: Administration will keep strict vigil on the movements of political candidates during the Ramnavami festivities and the procession on April 15.
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar who is also the district electoral officer for the Jamshedpur Parliamentary constituency said that respective police station officials will use videographers to see if the candidates do not indulge in violation of model code of conduct during interaction with devotees during Ramnavami procession on April 15. This apart the flying squads will also be doing rounds to keep a tab on movement of political candidates.
Significantly, there are 210 akhara committees (including 189 licensed committees) who will be taking out immersion procession on April 15 in different parts of the districts drawing huge number of devotees and there are chances of political candidates using this occasion to canvas for themselves.
Sitting BJP MP Bidyut Baran Mahto and Seraikela MLA and JMM veteran leader Champai Soren are in fray for the prestigious Jamshedpur Parliamentary seat which will go to polls on May 12.
The deputy commissioner chaired a meeting of the district-level peace committee meeting to discuss about law and order situation and peaceful conduct of Ramnavami immersion procession (on April 15) and chaiti chhath on April 11 and 12 at Rajendra Vidyalaya Auditorium in Sakchi in presence of senior police and administration officials.
East Singhbhum SSP Anoop Birtharay, said that apart from 2500 police force including, district police force and Rapid Action Force, police would be using drones for aerial surveillance at sensitive spots and CCTV footages for crowd management.
With an aim to ensure peaceful Ramnavmi the East Singhbhum administration is gearing up to make elaborate arrangements. The administration has decided to deploy adequate policemen and paramilitary personnel to prevent any untoward incident.
Several sensitive areas have been identified and Rapid Action Force jawans will be posted accordingly.
Round the clock electricity and drinking water supply besides, smooth road for taking out processions are some of the areas the administration has focused on.
The DC has directed all the departments concerned to gear up for the festival and ensure all arrangements to the Akhara samities before the festival gets start.
