Jamshedpur : In view of ever increasing number of the vehicles in the city, especially the two wheelers, and floods of people thronging the roads during the five celebrated days of Pujas the traffic police finds it too difficult to control the traffic movement on the busy streets.

Besides, with limited strength of the traffic police personnel the department finds itself in mess during the hectic period.

The administration has planned a multi-tire traffic management plan to ensure easy movement of the vehicles during the festival. Alternative route arrangements for the smooth movement of the traffic have been planned.

The exercise aimed at decongesting roads would see one-way traffic routes, specified parking venues near major pandals hosting fairs and change in no-entry timings for heavy commercial vehicles.

As per plans commuters travelling from Mango to Sakchi would have to take route through MGM Hospital- Shitla Mandir- Aam Bagan- Delhi Durbar to reach Sakchi roundabout. Commuters travelling from Sakchi to Mango would have to take route through The Bengal Club- Old Court Road- Hati Ghora Temple- Mango old bridge to reach Mango roundabout.

Commuters will have to take detour from Graduate School College for Women and reach Tata Steel supervisors flat before proceeding towards Sakchi market.

“There’s no denying the fact that controlling vehicular traffic is one of the most resourceful and cumbersome job during the pujas but again with an aim to streamline the traffic movement we work out different ways before time and this time too, we will come out with good alternatives,” informed traffic official.

Not only the Durga puja pandals across the length and breath of the urban periphery witness heavy turnout of the enthusiasts even, the main roads literally have turned into human sea with people from every walk of life thronging to the nook and corner of the streets leading to the famous and popular puja pandals.

Disappointingly, the otherwise law abiding denizens of the city that boasts of being one of the few cities of the country to have clean environment and well maintained streets confronts the wrath of poor traffic management during the six busy days of the pujas and indeed, the very own people of the century old city are to be responsible for the traffic chaos.

Nevertheless, in an attempt to send loud and clear message to the errant drivers particularly, those riding in drunken state of mind the district administration has decided to slap fine not less than Rs. 2000 on those found driving in an inebriated condition.

Besides, collecting spot fine from those found violating traffic rules on street.

The Jugsalai-Pursudih main road is the worst victim of the puja rush as it has become literally difficult to negotiate the street during the evening-night these days. Passengers heading for Tatanagar railway station are fighting it out to make a way to the railway station and in the course of it they sometime miss the train.
