Administration launches �Selfie with Helmet� campaign for road safety

Jamshedpur: District administration here on Sunday launched �selfie with helmet� campaign in East Singhbhum.

The District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Sanjay Kumar led the campaign in Salbani village situated at the National Highway 33 on the Jamshedpur-Ghatsila route. The village head Sudhir Kumar Giri jointly inaugurated the campaign in the village with the DPRO.

During the campaign, the DPRO learnt that there were around 50 motorcycles in the village which has a population of 300. Helmets were found in 36 households while the remaining households did not have it. Those having helmets and the village head were felicitated by the DPRO. The others were given helmets after they showed their driving licence. The villagers assured to keep helmet at every cost so as to avert road accidents.

The DPRO informed the villagers that �selfie with helmet� was a road safety awareness programme started on the social media. He appealed to the youths to post their selfies with helmet to their friends so that road safety awareness could be spread and everyone could understand the importance of wearing helmets while driving.

A Facebook page �selfie with helmet� has also been created to request people to post their selfie with helmets.

During the programme, many villagers posted their selfies with helmet on the Facebook.

Those felicitated on the occasion for possessing and wearing helmet included Brajesh Kumar Singh, Vikas Chandra Giri, Dharmendra Giri, Mahaveer Giri, Manoj Kumar, Vimal Satpathy, Madhusudan, Tarun Padma Lochan, Sameer Kumar and Sagar Patar.
