Jamshedpur, August 1: A team led by food safety officer of Seraikela Kharsawan, Moin Akhtar today raided outlets selling prohibited pan masalas and tobacco products in Gamharia area and recovered huge amount of tobacco products including prohibited khaini, jarda masalas from Prakash Store.Â
An FIR was lodged against the store owner for sale and purchase of prohibited tobacco products under Food Safety Act.
The campaign was carried out after a joint directive by SDO Seraikela Ram Krishna Kumar and SDPO Rakesh Ranjan. The nearby shopkeepers were warned against sale and purchase of prohibited tobacco products and also an appeal was made against storing and sale of adulterated and items outside expiry dates.
The food safety officer said that there are chances of adulteration in open sweets, biscuits and other loose edible items. The consumers were also asked to check expiry dates of packed food items before purchasing.
