Jamshedpur: A class X student of ADLS Sunshine Hindi School, Rajeev Sharma, died in a road accident on Saturday after being run over by a truck at Dimna Road, Mango.
He was on his way home on a bicycle when the speeding truck knocked him down. The minor sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. In this connection, police registered a case against the truck driver.
Sources said the truck was moving at high speed which led to the mishap. The driver could not stop the vehicle as the minor suddenly appeared on the road before him.
Irked over the incident, local residents blocked the main road for several hours and pelted stones on the truck.
The agitators demanded action against truck drivers for driving recklessly and demanded compensation for the next of kin of the deceased.
