Jamshedpur: Different tribal organizations took out a protest rally on the CNT and SPT laws amendment issue at Hata Chowk here on Thursday.
The protesters raised anti-government slogans and criticized Chief Minister Raghubar Das for the amendments.
The protesters moved through the streets after gathering at Hata Chowk and reached Durga Mandir where a public meeting was organized to discuss strategy to wage further protest on the amendment issue.
Speaking on the occasion, tribal leader Kumar Chandra Mardi said that various tribal organizations of the state were protesting continuously for the last three months to protest amendments in the local land laws.
He said the amendments should be revoked immediately as they were not in the larger interest of the tribal people of Jharkhand.
The protesters unanimously decided to organize a grand rally in Chaibasa on 21st March wherein the tribal leaders of the state will give a clarion call to all Adivasis to protest the amendments.
Among those present during today’s protest rally included DNS Anand, Sushil Hansda, Naresh Murmu, CR Majhi, Amol Ranjan Sardar, Uttam Kumar Singh and Virendra Tudu.
