Jamshedpur: The national president of Adivasi Sengel Abhiyaan (ASA), Salkhan Murmu has announced that a phase wise agitation would be launched in demand for Sarna Religious Code in Adivasi majority areas including the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Assam besides Jharkhand. In a press release the ASA president Salkhan Murmu mentioned that the agitation would commence of October 15 with the burning of the Jharkhand government�s effigy. The other demands besides that of the Sarna Code were constituting Jharkhand Domicile Policy, recognizing Santali along with Hindi as the first official state language of Jharkhand, providing ST status to Adivasis of Assam and Andaman and creating two trusts for the descendents of Shahid Birsa Munda with funds of Rs 100 crore each.
In his press communiqu�, the ASA and former parliamentarian Salkhan Murmu informed that discussions were on with other state parties for mobilizing coordinated efforts for the agitation. The agitation that will commence on October 15 with the burning of the state government�s effigy and road blocks will be followed up with a rally on October 20 and from November 5 to 20 ASA will conduct awareness rallies and burn effigies of the government in all the five states and if these phased agitations do not yield any positive result, the organization in association with other parties would resort to rail and road blockades.
