Adityapur woman killed over witchcraft allegation

Jamshedpur: A 35 year-old woman, identified as Poonam Soy, was slain by her neighbor over witchcraft allegations in Baskonagar Busti under Adityapur police station area here on Saturday.

Police arrested the accused, identified as Chandra Haiburu, who allegedly attacked the victim with a sword around 8 am.

The victim�s husband Anil Soy was not at home while her two children were playing outside. Poonam had gone out of her house with some work at hand when the accused assaulted her on her neck.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly told police had had an old land dispute with Poonam Soy. Haiburu had once quarreled with Poonam over the land issue. He said his family members were not keeping well.

�Doubting it all to be the result of black magic practiced by Poonam, I decided to kill her,� the accused reportedly told police.
