Seraikela, May 21: Adityapur police here on Saturday claimed to have cracked the mystery behind the killing of Kartik Gope alias Babu, who was shot dead in the intervening night of 2nd and 3rd May last in Adityapur. They arrested two persons, identified as Mukesh Das alias Golu and Rajvir Singh alias Lalu, in this connection.
According to Seraikela Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Harvinder Singh, “The deceased was a criminal and he wanted to kill Mukesh Das. Knowing this, Mukesh, Rajvir and several others fatally assaulted Kartik and injured him critically. Kartik died during treatment in the hospital. We have recovered a bag, a red towel and a steel dagger used in the crime. The accused persons have been sent to judicial custody.”
The SDPO said raids were on to nab the other accused persons. He said the arrested persons had a criminal past.
