Adityapur Municipal Corporations polls:Candidates focus on door-to-door canvassing

Jamshedpur, April 6 : With candidates focusing on door-to-door campaigning, Adityapur Municipal Corporation election has gathered momentum. As the polling date for the civic poll is inching closer the candidates contesting for the post of mayor, deputy mayor and corporaters are getting charged up.

The BJP candidate Vinod Srivastava, who is contesting for the post of mayor,is dominating in terms of campaigning in the Adityapur Municipal area.The Congress candidate Yogendra Sharma alias Munna Sharma and also the BJP’s rebel candidate Ganga Prasad Sharma are also making their presence felt to garner support.
Srivastava has launched five vehicles fitted with posters and loud-speakers for reaching out to the people.

“We are focusing on door-to-door but still we have adopted other ways for the campaigning like reaching to the voters through social media like Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, and by organising street play. I belong to the area and know everything so I am seeking votes on the basis of the work that I have done during my tenure as vice-chairman of Adityapur municipal council last time.

I am confident that the people will ensure my victory,” said Srivastava.
The Congress candidate Yogendra Sharma is targeting youths, especially the teen-agers to campaign for him for garnering support in his favour.

He himself is approaching the residents during door-to-door campaign.

” I want to change the life style of people by providing them better facilities.. There will be adequate drinking water, non-stop electricity supply, garbage free road-lanes and well-lit roads. And these all will be possible when a strong and able candidate will be elected as mayor,” said Sharma while talking to the newmen.
Ganga Prasad Sharma, who is contesting for the post of mayor as well as deputy mayor, is also reaching out to the people by going over their homes.

With a population of over 2.5 lakh, Adityapur municipal council is comprised of 32 wards. The total number of voters in the area is 1,03,055 who will be casting their votes for the civic poll scheduled to be held on April 16.

The major candidates who are in the fray Vinod Srivastava from the BJP, Independent candidate Ganga Prasad Sharma, Yogendra Sharma from the Congress and Ranjit Pradhan from the JMM.

�Adityapur is preparing for the maiden municipal corporation polls. The residents of the town located in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district are excited to participate in the process,� said a local resident.
