Adityapur Municipal Corporation approves projects worth Rs 44 crore

Focus on drinking water problem

Jamshedpur: Adityapur Municipal Corporation (AMC) gave nod to various projects worth Rs 44 crore for the year 2019-20. Revealing about the decision, AMC mayor, Vinod Srivastava informed that they have passed various development projects worth Rs 44 crores for the municipal area.

“The projects related to construction of roads, drainage, procurement of earth-moving equipment, computers, scanners, and water tankers have been approved during the meeting,” said Srivastava.

The AMC mayor pointed out that drinking water problem is the main problem for the people living under AMC area. Moreover, the roads under the civic area not all the roads under the civic area is good condition.

�We are working in a way to ensure that there is no water crisis during summer season.We have, therefore, focussed on the drinking water problem and on improving the road condition. Ward commissioners of all the 35 wards have been asked to submit their projects for improving the road condition in their respective areas. We have earmarked Rs 15 lakh for each of the wards for improving the road condition by carrying out repairing,” the mayor said.

The mayor said they would procure water tankers for supplying potable water to the residents who have to face acute drinking water problem every summer.
According to the 2011 census, AMC has an official population of 1,73,789, but unofficially over three lakh people live in this municipal area which covers Adityapurand parts of Gamharia.

During the meeting it was also decided that the entrance of Atal Park in Adityapur will be opened toward Tata-Kandra Road in view of vehicular congestion. Atal Park, the only park in Adityapurtownship, Srivastava said its entrance will be shifted from the residential area toward the Tata-Kandra Road.

“In view of the objection made by some local residents and also by a local NGO, Jan KalyanMorcha, we decided to shift the entrance,” said the mayor. Atal Park has been reopened from January 1 after remaining closed for about three months ever since it started functioning in October last.Spread over two acres of land, the park is equipped with fountains, flower and joggers track. The AMC has spent over Rs 4 crores for setting up the Atal Park which is the only such facilty in Adityapur.

The double-storeyed banquet hall which has a capacity to accommodate 200 persons . People can organise their functions and other cultural programme at the banquet hall.
