Jamshedpur, May 23: The court of Principal District and Sessions Judge of Seraikela-Kharsawan Vijay Kumar sentenced one Naveen Mahato to rigorous imprisonment for killing his wife. It also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on him.
The case dates back to the year 2019 when the accused killed his wife Mithu Rani Mahato. The body of the deceased was found on 9th January 2019 at her parental house in Vidyutnagar under Adityapur police station area. An FIR was lodged against the accused on the information of Kamlakant Mahato, father of Mithu Rani Mahato.
According to prosecution, Naveen had an illicit relationship with a widow living in his neighbourhood. When Mithu Rani came to know about his relationship, she left her husband’s house and went to her parental home in Vidyutnagar. She often had altercation with her husband which resulted in her killing.
