Ranchi: Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu has been appointed acting president of the Jharkhand unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Soon after receiving the official communication from party leadership, Sahu reached the state BJP headquarters in Harmu, Ranchi, where party workers and senior leaders extended their congratulations.
Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi and state BJP’s organisation general secretary Karmveer Singh were present to welcome him. Speaking to the media, Sahu expressed gratitude to the party’s top leadership, saying he would strive to fulfill the responsibility with complete dedication.
Recalling his early days in the party, Sahu said, “In 1980, I started as a grassroots worker cutting entry slips. Over time, I was trusted with various roles — district vice-president, member of the state committee, and twice as state organisation general secretary.”
He called his elevation to acting president a blessing and a reflection of the party’s commitment to grassroots workers. “I have always worked for the organisation. Every moment of my life is dedicated to strengthening it,” he said. “This is not just a post for me, but a duty I will carry out with sincerity as a committed karyakarta.”
Sahu added that he would continue to prioritise the sentiments and interests of party workers, and that his focus remains on organisational development and nation-building.
Speaking to reporters, Babulal Marandi congratulated Sahu and expressed hope that the party would soon announce a full-time state president. He noted that Sahu is currently balancing dual responsibilities.
Notably, former Koderma MP Ravindra Rai previously held the role of acting state president.
