Jamshedpur, Oct 17: A special camp for Adhaar Card registration for transgenders was organized at the District Information Centre.
Organized by district DPRO Sanjay Kumar, the camp will function till October 31 to facilitate transgenders to register for their Aadhaar and voter ID cards. The first day saw the registration of five transgenders and one physically challenged person.
Those without any identification document were asked to come later after obtaining such certificates from public representatives.
DPRO Sanjay Kumar informed that the camp has been organized and will continue till October 31 for the benefit of transgenders in order to provide them with identification certificates like Aadhaar and Voter ID cards. These would enable them to avail of various government facilities like pension, cash loans, privileges under Jan Dhan Yojna and Indira Awas schemes besides others.
Sanjay Kumar stated that the special camp has been organized with the objective of enabling transgenders to join the mainstream. These ID cards would also enable them to open bank accounts, form self-help groups and engage in other spheres of socio-economic activities.
Sanjana Kinnar, Aruna Kinnar, Rajlakshmi Kinnar, Bijli Kinnar, Katrina Kinnar and Sandhya Purty were registered today at the camp. Among those who facilitated the registrations at the camp were e-District manager Sadaf Quddusi, CSC district manager San Nikant and Saroj Kumar Hemant Singh of Pragnya Centre while Murari Kumar and Arzoo Baksh provided technical support.
Sinjay Vishwakarma, Asha Pandey, Anup Kundu, Gaurav Ghosh, Rajnis Victor Nag, Janeshwar Das, E Rajani, Ritu Sharma, Smita Pathak, Anup Kumar Pathak, Sandip Kumar Pathak, Amit Poddar and others were present at the camp during registration proceedings. ‘Shubhkamna Foundation’ and ‘Jago Jamshedpur Jago’ organizations played an important role in mobilizing the transgenders.
