Jamshedpur , Dec 23: Additional 200 policemen and police women will be deployed at the picnic spots, strategic locations leading to the during the period starting from December 24 till January 10. If necessary the date of special security arrangement may be extended further beyond January 10.
Picnic spots like Dimna Lake, Jubilee Park, Hudco lake and Narhwa dam will be provided with a foolproof security cover during the picnic season which is in the offing. These picnic spots and other places of visits will thoroughly be covered with an adequate number of armed police personnel from December 24 till January 10.
Revealing about the security arrangement during Christmas and new year revelry, senior superintendent of police, M Tamil Vanan said that instructions to this effect have already been given to the concerned police stations.
“We have always provided armed policemen for the security of the places like Dimna Lake, Jubilee Park and other parks as well as the places of attractions. But during the picnic season that begins from December 24, additional forces will be deployed in all these places so that the visitors, especially the ones coming from out of the state, may not fall victim to any anti-social activity,” he said.
Another official said that beside the police men, women cops will also be deployed in the picnic spots. He pointed out the policing at the picnic spots will be monitored continuously by deputy superintendent of police of the concerned areas.
He said apart from the deployment of the additional police forces, triple-riding, drunk driving and use of pressure horns by the bike riders will be prohibited during the Christmas and New Year revelry. He said traffic police cops and members of Quick Response Team (QRT) which is composed of guards of private security company Panther Security and the policemen will remain mobile to ensure streets are free from anti-social elements.
Sources in the traffic police revealed that towing vehicles will remain ready for being pressed into services on the roads leading to places like Jubilee Park and Dimna Lake so that any traffic congestion may be removed without much delay.
A large number of picnickers visit the picnic spots in and around the steel city during the year end and new year every year. Beside revelers from the steel city, a large number of picnickers from adjoining Bengal also visit Dimna Lake for enjoying the scenic beauty of Dimna Lake at the end of the year.
