Acute water crisis in Dikybalkand village

Chaibasa, April 28: The villagers of Dikubalkand are facing an acute water crisis and are compelled to fetch drinking water from faraway places, often collect it from polluted streams.

Around 1500 villagers wake up at night travel to the streams. The most of the villagers here are Harijans and members of the backward classes.

The people are very much worried as day by day the water crisis is increasing and the district administration are yet to make any alternative to supply drinking water.

The village has 13 tube wells and 8 wells, but all have dried up. The situation in the village is worsening day by day, as they are forced to survive on contaminated water.
