Activists on indefinite strike over irregularities in ration card lists

Jamshedpur, Jan. 6: Demanding removal of name of financially strong people from Ration cards and adding the name of poor, Communist Party of India (CPI) Potka block committee members sat on indefinite strike on Friday. The protest was launched before the Potka block office where Sova Lal Mahakundu, Sukhman Kundu, Harihar Pradhan, Mukund Mahakund, Amulyo Pradhan, Ravindra Hembrom, Dilip Mahakund and others were present.

The protestors said that screening of all the ration cards distributed in every panchayat of Potka block should be done and name of those financially strong should be removed and poor should be provided the card.

Potka BDO Prabhas Chandra Das said, the matter for investigation has been handed to panchayat representative. Soon the names of poor will be added and financially strong would be removed from the list.

Till date list of 1200 people from eight panchayat has been received and the rest is still pending. As and when the complete list from 34 panchayat is received, the new and poor people�s name will be added.

According to reports, 86 % work of ration card has been done in Potka block.
