Action plan in the offing on grade revision

Jamshedpur: Tata Workers Union may take a major decision on the delay in grade revision of Tata Steel employees. Union officials may soon convene a meeting of the committee in this connection.

Discussions are likely to be held on further steps that may be taken on the delay in grade revision. Union may also send its proposal on the issue to the company management, sources said.

The grade revision agreement is pending since 1st January, 2012. The new and old employees of the company are eagerly awaiting grade revision. Talks are being held between the management and union for the last six months. But no decision has been taken on the issue so far.

Talks over grade revision between union and management have not taken place in the last few months as a result of lack of agreement between the management and the union. Union is adamant on its demand for grade revision for five years and DA (dearness allowance). Sources said the management wants the DA to be equal to the NS grade employees.

An action plan may be prepared by the union by taking in suggestions from union officials. Opposition committee members had recently demanded discussions on the issue. Ruling faction members of the union too want discussions and a strategy on the issue.
