Accused in Religious Place Vandalism Case Dies in Mandar; Brothers Arrested in Connection

Ranchi: The accused involved in the vandalism at a religious place in Mudma village, Mandar, has reportedly died, as confirmed by Ranchi Police on Wednesday. The incident occurred during the night of November 16-17 when unidentified anti-social elements vandalized several religious sites in Mudma colony, prompting a case registration based on the complaint filed by Manohar Sahu, President of Mahabir Mandali.

Acting on the instructions of Ranchi Rural SP, a team led by Khalari DSP Ankita Rai was formed to investigate the incident and take necessary actions. The team received confidential information from villagers indicating that the primary accused, Sukhdev Oraon alias Jatu, had passed away. Acting on this information, Sukhdev Oraon’s brothers, Soma Oraon and Etwa Oraon, were brought in for questioning.

During the interrogation, both brothers revealed that during the Mudma fair, a dispute arose with some individuals regarding the location for setting up a shop. Sukhdev Oraon, alias Jatu, reportedly consumed alcohol and harbored anger over the incident. The vandalism was carried out as a form of retaliation. Despite their awareness of the incident, the brothers kept quiet due to fear of public backlash and hastily cremated Sukhdev Oraon.
In response to these revelations, the police arrested Soma Oraon and Etwa Oraon, both brothers of the deceased Sukhdev Oraon, in connection with the religious place vandalism case. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be revealed as the case progresses.
