Access to market remains major challenge for MSMEs: Indrajeet Yadav at CII Jharkhand Industry Carnival

CII Jharkhand Industry Carnival highlights MSME growth and industrial innovation

Jamshedpur, Feb 24: CII Jharkhand Industry Carnival 2025, themed “Technovate, Sustain, and Safeguard: Shaping Tomorrow’s Industries,” brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of industrial transformation.

The event held at Adityapur Auto Cluster, Jamshedpur focused on integrating sustainability, safety, and technological advancements to enhance India’s global competitiveness, particularly in the automobile, steel, railways, and defense manufacturing sectors.

Indrajeet Yadav, IEDS, MSME – Development & Facilitation Office Ranchi, emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment for MSMEs. “Access to markets remains a major challenge for MSMEs, directly impacting their long-term viability. The Industry Carnival provides a crucial platform to explore procurement opportunities and integrate MSMEs into supply chains,” he stated. He also discussed government provisions and subsidies aimed at supporting industries in adopting energy-efficient technologies and digital innovations.

Addressing the growing role of MSMEs, R Adm Anil Kumar Verma (Retd.), Past Chairman, CII Eastern Region, highlighted the sector’s importance in India’s economic resurgence. He pointed out that India’s global GDP share has declined from 25% in the 14th–15th century to just 3% today, underlining the urgent need for MSME expansion. He cited the remarkable 500% growth in India’s defense production over the past decade, from ₹30,000 crore to ₹1.5 lakh crore, presenting unprecedented opportunities for MSMEs in the sector.

 

Ranjot Singh, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Emdet Jamshedpur Pvt Ltd, acknowledged Jamshedpur’s pivotal role in Jharkhand’s economic and industrial growth. He emphasized that Jharkhand’s heavy engineering industry, backed by abundant mineral resources, skilled workforce, and favorable policies, is emerging as a significant hub for manufacturing, construction, and mining. The Adityapur Industrial Area in Saraikela-Kharsawan, he noted, is witnessing rapid expansion, fueled by recent government initiatives.

Sanjay Sabherwal, Chairman, CII ER MSME Subcommittee & Managing Director, Metalwork Industries Ltd, underscored the immense untapped potential of MSMEs in Jharkhand. He noted that the MSME sector, employing around 21 crore people nationwide, is integral to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Jharkhand, he added, is actively fostering innovation, skill development, and improved infrastructure to accelerate industrial growth.

Highlighting the role of digital transformation, Ritu Raj Sinha, Vice Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Tata Steel Utilities & Infrastructure Services Ltd, emphasized the convergence of innovation, sustainability, and safety in industrial progress. He elaborated on how Industry 4.0, AI-driven automation, and smart infrastructure are reshaping industrial ecosystems, necessitating proactive safety measures and operational efficiency.

Rohit Goyal, Co-Convenor, CII Jharkhand MSME Panel & Director, Iemco Industries Pvt Ltd, stressed the significance of balancing traditional growth with sustainability and technological advancements. He highlighted the growing transition to electric vehicles and the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies as key drivers of sustainable industrial progress.

The CII Jharkhand Industry Carnival 2025, which featured over 150 delegates and 25 exhibitors, served as a premier platform for fostering strategic partnerships and exploring new business opportunities.
