Ranchi, Nov 5: Anti Corruption Bureau has sought the permission of Jharkhand state government for registering a preliminary enquiry (PE) against Jamshedpur East MLA and former minister Saryu Roy, sources said.

Sources said the ACB has written a letter to the vigilance department. They added that one G Kumar had lodged a complaint against Saryu, alleging that the latter had allegedly misused government funds through the NGO Yugantar Bharati while occupying the post of minister. Kumar also alleged that the publication of the magazine ‘Aahar’ was done without tender process and that it involved corruption. He further said that voice message work order was issued at a rate higher than the market rate. He also alleged that Roy had appointed someone close to him in his department contrary to the rules.

Sources said the ACB had found prima facie material pointing to anomalies. The allegations further stated that Yuganatar Bharati was not registered in Jharkhand and despite this it was allegedly given advance payments worth several crores to conduct test of water in all the districts by the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department. Extension was also granted to Baba computer at eight times higher rate against rules, sources claimed.
