Abhibhavak Sangh members meets DC

Jamshedpur: Members of Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh led by Dr Umesh Kumar today met the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal and handed over a memorandum to him demanding measures to ensure that no child is detained in any class in the private schools of the city.

The outfit members alleged that many private city schools were openly flouting the norms of Right to Education Act under the very nose of the education department. The education department officials, despite knowing the fact, are not taking any action to stop the violation of the said Act, they said.

Dr Kumar said around 400 children had been failed in primary classes in the year 2011-12 alone. Many reputed schools of Bistupur, Dhatkidih, Telco and other parts of the city had violated the RTE Act, he said.

Abhibhavak Sangh members threatened to go on indefinite agitation in case their demands were not fulfilled. They said the district administration should take definite and exemplary action against the erring private schools to make sure they followed the RTE norms.
