AAP activists brutally attacked by BJP workers near Jamshedpur MP’s house

Jamshedpur, June 29: A group of AAP supporters were allegedly assaulted by BJP activists near the residence of Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto on Monday morning at Q Road in Bistupur.

According to the AAP activists all over the country including Jamshedpur had gone with prior permission to lodge their protest against the BJP leaders and HRD Minister Smriti Irani, Rajasthan chief Minsiter Vasundhra Raje, Maharashtra Minister Pankaja Munde tainted on charges of corruption recently and demanding removal from Central government through Jamshedpur MP.

Around 35 AAP workers at around 11 am reached the MP’s house. According to AAP activist, the police stopped them 25 feet away from MP’s house.

AAP activists alleged that at the direction of Jamshedpur MP, youth BJP activists led by Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM ) President Ratan Mahato started assaulting them. Three of activists including two women were injured in the incident.

Those who have been injured include Durga Agarwal, Usha Mukhi and Samar Kundu (left leg) who were discharged later in the evening from MGM Medical College and Hospital.

The AAP activists then assembled at the district collectorate and sat on a dharne for nearly an hour against Jamshedpur MP.

After an hour a representative of DC Amitabh Kaushal came to us and collected a letter from us, said an activist adding that later the party workers to file a complaint reached Bistupur Police Station and made CITY SP Chandan aware of the matter.

“It is really shocking incident and we want justice. We had assembled near the Voltas Roundabout in Bistupur at around 11 am and marched to Q Road and started protesting in front of the residence-cum-office of Jamshedpur MP at Qr. No. 208 in Bistupur and all of a sudden the Jamshedpur MP came to meet us and the activists started abusing us,” said AAP spokesperson Sumant Choudhary.

Sumant further said that we demand arrest of MP Bidhut Baran Mahato and he should apologize to us otherwise the party will be forced to launch agitation.

The officer-in-charge of Bistupur Police station Jitendra Kumar denied the beating up incident. Mahato, however, said the protestors used unparliamentary words in front of his house and local residents chased them away.      

Meanwhile, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto’s city representative Sanjiv Kumar rubbished the manhandling or assault story. “We were sitting and during this time there is a crowd of people waiting to meet Jamshedpur MP.

All of a sudden these AAP activists came on the road and started shouting slogans,” said Sanjiv.
