Saraikela, Jan 2: Archery Association of India (AAI) president and central Minister Arjun Munda on Saturday launched the online affiliation portal in a simple ceremony that was conducted online. Among those present during the launch included his wife and president of District Archery Association of Saraikela-Kharsawan Meera Munda, former IAS officer and BJP leader JB Tubid, Mangal Soy, Shailendra Singh, AAI joint secretary Sumant Mohanty, Jharkhand Archery Association secretary Purnima Mahto, coach BS Rao, Himanshu Mohanty and Sumit Mishra.
Prior to the inauguration of the online portal, Arjun Munda cast light on the success of AAI and the future plans of the Association. After the inauguration Munda stated that with the launch of the portal, archers all over the country would get a new platform and derive great benefits.
The Minister and AAI president Arjun Munda stated on the occasion, “It is due to the ceaseless efforts of the AAI team that another feather has been added to the cap of achievements of the Association. This new portal is testimony to this. Archers, coaches and officials will be able to get all necessary information including those on various championships, games, international and national tournaments in which they wish to participate. Updates on archery events internationally and nationally will be available on this portal.”
AAI general secretary Pramod Chandurkar had a note of caution for the sportsmen of this stream when he said that this portal would trace out attempted forgeries in age. “The portal will enable certification of archers by the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports,” he informed.
Jamshedpur archer Komolika Bari who is undergoing intensive training at Pune in preparation of the Olympics was the first to be affiliated to AAI after the launch of the portal.
