Awareness program on sunstroke at ADLS Sunshine

Jamshedpur, April 7 : The Safe Club of ADLS Sunshine School organized an awareness program on sunstroke and titled ‘SUNSENSE’. Dr. Narain Pandey, a general physician associated with TMH from last 6 and half years addressed the students.

During the interview the students were ready with a list of questions related to Sunstroke and heat related problems. According to Dr. Pandey Heatstroke is at its peak during the months of April to June and proper measures should be taken to avoid it.

According to a research in the recent years, Heatstroke is more prevalent than Heart stroke. He said that threat of Heatstroke is more in children below the age of 5 and adults about 50 years old.

Further adding on Dr. Pandey mentioned that one should have small meals throughout a day rather than binging at one go and drinking plenty of water to keep oneself hydrated. He cleared the misconception of taking glucose water as and when needed.

To make the event more appealing and fruitful, stalls were put up depicting various measures one can take to beat the heat. The stalls of nimbu paani, aam panna, lassi and watermelon were encouraging students to know the health benefits associated with them.

The concept of “SUNSENSE” planned by the Principal Indrani Singh and the event was organized by “Safe Club” moderators Nivedita Mukherjee, Sharanjeeet Kaur, D. Vimla, Pushpanjali Mishra, Gurpreet Kaur and Tulika Mukherjee (school counselor).
