East Singhbhum emerges overall champion
Jamshedpur: The two-day 5th Master Athletics Championship, organised by the Master Athletics Association of Jharkhand, concluded on a high note with The Great Jharkhand Run at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. Around 850 participants took part in the run, which was organised to promote fitness and healthy living.
The run was flagged off by former District Council Vice-Chairman Rajkumar Singh and current Vice-Chairman Pankaj Kumar Sinha, along with Indrajeet Singh, Lifetime President of the Master Athletics Association of Jharkhand, and Vijay Singh, President of the Association.

Several prominent sports and labour leaders were present on the occasion, including Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Head of Sports, Tata Steel, former international athlete S K Tomar, Tata Motors Workers Union President Shashi Bhushan Prasad, General Secretary R K Singh, Jharkhand Athletic Association President Vijay Singh, and senior members Gyan Singh, Avtar Singh and Veena Singh.
During the closing ceremony, winners of the 5th Master Athletics Championship were felicitated for their performances. It was announced that athletes selected on the basis of their performances in the championship will represent Jharkhand at the National Masters Athletics Championship.
In the overall team standings, East Singhbhum emerged as the champion, securing the highest number of points, while Ramgarh finished as runners-up.
The successful organisation of the championship and the run reinforced Jamshedpur’s growing reputation as a hub for athletics and fitness-oriented events.
