Jamshedpur, September 4: Chaos ensued at Rajendra Vidyalaya in Jamshedpur as 79 students from classes 10 to 12 failed their exams, prompting representatives from various political parties to create a ruckus within the school premises. The agitated representatives surrounded Principal Piyali Mukherjee’s office, demanding that the failed students be promoted.

Parents of the failed students voiced their concerns, alleging that students who took private tutoring had passed, while the others had failed. They also criticized the school’s practice of having subject-specific teachers instruct in subjects they were not specialized in, which they claimed contributed to their children’s poor performance. The parents demanded that the failed students be allowed to reappear for exams and, if unsuccessful, take responsibility for the results along with their parents.

Principal Piyali Mukherjee responded to the uproar by questioning whether it was appropriate to pass students who had not studied adequately from class six to 12. She explained that, following instructions from the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), a re-examination was conducted for the failed students, but only 15 managed to pass. Mukherjee emphasized that all students faced the same exam conditions, and the failures were due to the students’ own weaknesses, not any negligence on the part of the school.
Despite this, she assured the parents that their demands would be presented to the relevant committee for further consideration.
