Jharkhand reports 7 deaths, 371 new cases ��
Jamshedpur/Ranchi, July 24: Seven corona positives patients succumbed to virus in Jharkhand on Friday, July 24 taking the state toll to 76. Two people died of the virus at TMH in Jamshedpur. The first death reported in the city on July 24 is of a 65-year-old resident of Sakchi who was admitted to TMH on July 17 with high fever and breathing difficulties. He died during treatment on July 24 morning. The second death in Jamshedpur is reported from Sitaramdera where 70-year-old man was admitted to TMH with high fever and breathing difficulties on July 11 and he died on Friday morning. Three patients died at Ranchi while Hazaribagh and Garhwa reported one death each on Friday. �������
371 positive cases were reported in the state in a single day on Friday, July 24. Total of 118 people were discharged from various hospitals across the state on Friday. Earlier 485 cases were reported on July 22.
The death toll in Jharkhand stands at 76 while corona positive tally has climbed to 7621.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 1200 mark on Friday.
With 78 new cases reported on Friday, July 24, the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 1267. Earlier 91 cases were reported in the district on July 23.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 78 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Friday. 20 corona positives have been discharged from various COVID-19 hospitals in East Singhbhum district. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.
For 11 days in a row over 200 cases have been reported every single day in the state.
Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 1, Chatra 1, Dumka 4, East Singhbhum 78, Garhwa 57, Giridih 6, Godda 3, Gumla 2, Hazaribagh 30, Koderma 17, Lohardaga 10, Pakur 2, Palamu 3, Ramgarh 25, Ranchi 84, Sahebganj 16, Seraikela 9, Simdega 12 and West Singhbhum 11 taking the state corona tally to 7621.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 4134 and fatalities at 76 while 3354 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 1189 cases out of a total of 7227. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
The cabinet on Wednesday also made not wearing a mask in public places a criminal offence under the Disaster Management Act and decided to slap a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh on the violators. Not wearing a mask could also lead to imprisonment of up to two years, the cabinet decided.
The decision, officials said, was taken in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic after Jharkhand saw an unprecedented rise in cases of infection in July. The count of Covid-19 cases has tripled in the state since June, and officials have held the lackadaisical approach of citizens responsible for the spike in cases.
