A total of 77,046 Anganwadi workers and helpers in the state will now be eligible for insurance benefits. The Women, Child Development and Social Security Department has begun preparations to implement this initiative.

The group insurance benefit will be available to Anganwadi workers and helpers aged between 18 and 62, which includes 38,523 workers and an equal number of assistants.

To facilitate the program, the Social Security Department has issued a tender and called for applications from insurance companies to provide the insurance coverage. To participate in the scheme, each Anganwadi worker will need to pay an annual insurance fee of 500 rupees. The last date for submitting tender applications is February 27, with the total estimated value of the tender being 3.85 crore rupees.

The group insurance scheme is designed to provide benefits to Anganwadi workers and assistants in the event of untimely death or accidental death during their tenure. The insurance will cover both permanent and partial disabilities, ensuring financial assistance for workers in times of need. Additionally, the government plans to provide pension benefits for Anganwadi workers upon retirement, offering long-term financial relief and support.
