Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer Ravi Kumar has issued show-cause notices to seven registered unrecognised political parties (RUPPs) in Jharkhand for failing to comply with mandatory financial and election-related disclosures.
The parties served notices include Ranchi-based Jharkhand Krantikari Party, Jharkhand Party (Secular), Lok Jan Vikas Morcha, Rashtriya Desaj Party, Rashtriya Sangail Party, East Singhbhum’s Jharkhand Peoples Party, and Chatra-based Rashtriya Jan Kranti Morcha.
These parties stand accused of not submitting their audited annual accounts for three consecutive financial years — 2021–22, 2022–23, and 2023–24 — to the Election Commission of India (ECI), as required by electoral norms.
Additionally, despite participating in assembly and parliamentary elections, they failed to submit their expenditure statements within the prescribed deadlines — 75 days after an assembly election and 90 days after a parliamentary election — violating provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The Chief Electoral Officer has directed all seven parties to present their responses, along with affidavits and supporting documents, by October 9, 2025. A personal hearing has also been scheduled for October 16, 2025.
The notice warns that failure to respond within the stipulated time will be considered an indication that the party is no longer operational. In such cases, a recommendation for de-registration will be sent to the Election Commission of India, New Delhi. Official notices have been dispatched to the registered addresses of the concerned parties and also published in newspapers as a public announcement.
