Ranchi: Seven people have died due to unknown disease within a week due to an unknown disease spread in two villages of Noamundi block of West Singhbhum district. These include five children. More than two dozen children are ill. On receiving this information, a team is being sent by the Health Department on Tuesday.
It was reported that in Rengo Tola and Kantodeya of Noamundi, three-year-old Tui Angriya, three-year-old daughter of Vishnu Sirka, 10-year-old son of cobbler Daroga Chatomba and seven-year-old daughter of Mai Chatomba, three-month-old son of Sikur Chatomba died due to similar symptoms. It happened later.
Apart from these, 22 year old Konda Hembram and 56 year old Saro Birwa have also died. All of them initially complained of headache and body pain. Within four to five days everyone’s condition deteriorated and they died.
Kamal Dev Chatomba of the village said that even now most of the children of the village are sick. Due to being a backward area, there is lack of awareness among the people. For this reason, they are doing exorcism and home remedies instead of hospital.
Chief Medical Officer of Noamundi Block, Dr. Harendra Munda said that the information about the disease was received on Monday evening. Health department teams are being sent to both the villages on Tuesday.
